Taking Stock

My family and I have been renting for a short period after recently moving to Perth from Townsville.  We have now bit the bullet, purchased our own home and moved in last weekend on the two days that my husband was home from work.  The new house is in chaos while I have been madly cleaning our rental property in between chasing four kids to school and sport.  Lets just say it hasn’t been my favourite week.  This post is a chance for me to stop, take a breath, review where I am at and where I need to be.  It is another great idea from the Blog with Pip course that I am doing at the moment and that I highly recommend if you want to know more about blogging and social media.  I also don’t have a lot of ‘Exercise Hitlist‘ love for you either this week, so win win really!  I will be heading off to Hot Yoga next week to work out some kinks that I have picked up while moving, so stay tuned.

Taking Stock………

Making :  My coffee last as long as possible so I don’t have to start sorting through boxes.

Cooking :  Not much, trying to work my way through my freezer stash over this past week.  Suprising what you can dig up, I should do this more often!

Drinking :  Coffee of course, although hubby and I did crack a bottle of bubbly when we picked up the keys to our new house last week.

Reading:  A lot of new blogs from the Blog with Pip course I have been working through.

Wanting:  Order out of all this chaos!

Looking:  At furniture and storage ideas for our new house.  Hello IKEA and Bunnings!!

Playing:  With my little 4 year old at Bounce, huge trampolining place in Perth.  A few mums and kids from kindy had organised a trip and there happened to be an extra ticket.  What’s a girl to do?  I still remembered a few of my gymnastics moves, although I may have got a little competitive with dodge ball.

Getting my game on - Dodgeball against 4yr olds.

Deciding:  What to have for dinner.  BBQ was first on the list until we realised that we don’t have a BBQ!!  Hmmm….

Wishing:  That the weekends lasted longer.  Its so nice having my husband home to share the load, to keep me company and to enjoy our family time.

Enjoying:  The sunshine!!  The weather has been beautiful in Perth this last week and I have just been itching to get outside and enjoy it.

Waiting:  To hear back about some employment opportunities….

Liking:  My new purchases for the house:  A large desk for the kids to spread out and do their homework, bathroom shelving, and other cool bits and pieces.

Wondering:  Whether we will ever get a residential posting at the mine where my husband works.

Loving:  My new kitchen.  It is amazing how much easier my life is with large bench area, pantry, and plenty of storage.  Sad, but true.  Also love the sign left for me by the previous owners.

Anyone relate to this?

Anyone relate to this?

Pondering:  Whether I can justify the cost of CrossFit, I really want to sign up for three months.

Considering:  All the things that I want to achieve in the next six months and how to fit it all in.

Watching:  Orange is the New Black.  Quite amusing.

Hoping:  That I can find a way for the twins to improve their maths skills.  Mathletics online maybe??

Marvelling:  At how quickly kids adapt to change.

Needing:  To get my diet back on track.  So hit and miss at the moment and so important.

Smelling:  The candle that we have placed on the fireplace.  When the fire is going the candle heats up and makes the whole house smell just beautiful.

Wearing:  Jeans.  Its either jeans or workout gear at the moment, I am a tragic fashion disaster.  Will have to try a little harder I think.

Following:  Fashionista in Suburbia for some added inspiration in the fashion stakes.

Noticing:  That several grey hairs have popped up….OMG….plucked them right out and will pretend that I never saw them.  Actually forget I even mentioned it.

Knowing:  That life is just a series of rollercoasters and roundabouts.  If I just hang tough, keep plugging away, sooner or later I will be enjoying the highs again.

Thinking:  That I really should get up and do something soon but really enjoying having computer time again after having dramas with the computer and then internet connection problems.  Kids don’t really need dinner do they??

Feeling:  A little sore after getting through a strength workout yesterday.  First strength session in over a week.  Amazing how one session of exercise can change your mindset.  I have been in a little bit of a slump but that was enough to get me back in the game.

Admiring:  My husband’s skills with a flat pack.  Haha, no swearing yet!

Sorting:  Boxes and boxes of crap.  Really, why do I keep half the stuff I do?  Deciding that I am going to be ruthless.

Buying:  No more.  We really need to stop spending now that we are back in debt again. Doh.

Getting:  Cold.  The temperature is just starting to drop off as evening falls.

Bookmarking:  How do I bookmark stuff?  Yes I am completely incompetent with technical know how.

Disliking:  That the west coast of Australia is so far away from the east coast and therefore family can’t just pop over for a visit.

Opening:  A Strongbow Classic Apple Cider, mmm, Friday night drinks.

Giggling:  At myself when I fell through an old chair left by the previous owners.

I really should stop eating so much crap!

I really should stop eating so much crap!

Feeling:  Happy.  Life is good when my family is all together and my new house is starting to feel like home.

Snacking:  Not really snacking, although if I am its usually nothing good at the moment.  Time to get back on top of this.

Coveting:  A firepit and beautiful outside area.

Wishing:  I don’t do a whole lot of wishing, good health and safety for my loved ones?  I am happy to work towards my own happiness, although a cool million dollars wouldn’t go astray.

Helping:  My husband make dinner, well I’m about to…soon.

Hearing:  The sounds of family life all around, noise, chaos, laughter…..contentment.

  3. […] My sister recently completed a ‘Taking Stock’ post over at her blog Are We There Yet and it reminded me that it is a good way to stop, breathe, and review.  I also love reading them and having a little look into someone else’s life.  As it is really busy at the moment in the Campbell household I thought it would be a good time to do another ‘Taking Stock’ post.  You can read my previous one here.
